Abraham Lincoln Dollars

Abraham Lincoln has appeared on a United States one dollar coin in both 2009 and 2010. First came the 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial Commemorative Silver Dollar and then the 2010 Lincoln Presidential Dollar. Both coins have been extremely popular with collectors.

2009 Lincoln Dollar

The 2009 Lincoln Commemorative Silver Dollar was first available from the United States Mint on February 12, 2009. The date also marked the exact 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln, the occasion that the coin was commemorating.

The obverse of each coin featured a portrait of Lincoln, which displayed his strength and resolve. The reverse featured the final words of the Gettysburg Address. The coins were available in proof or uncirculated versions and limited to a maximum mintage of 500,000 across both options.

2010 Lincoln Dollar

The 2010 Lincoln Presidential Dollar is scheduled for release into circulation on November 18, 2010. The coin will represent the sixteenth release of the ongoing Presidential Dollar coin series, which honors the former Presidents of the United States in the order served.

In addition to the circulation release, there will be a number of collectible versions of the coin released earlier in the year. A proof version of the coin was first available on February 11, 2010 in the annual Presidential Dollar Proof Set. Proof Lincoln Presidential Dollars will also be included in the full 2010 Proof Set and 2010 Silver Proof Set.

Collectible uncirculated versions of the coin from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints were first available on April 13, 2010 in the annual Presidential Dollar Uncirculated Set. These coins will also be included in the 2010 Uncirculated Mint Set, released later in the year.
