Lincoln Dollar Release Dates
The first of the recent Lincoln Dollars was released on February 12, 2009. This coincided with the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth. Both the uncirculated and proof versions were available for ordering from the United States Mint on this date. From the maximum authorized mintage of 500,000 coins, there were 50,000 proof coins held back for later release within the Lincoln Coin & Chronicles Set on October 15, 2009.
The following year, the first Lincoln Presidential Dollars were released within the 2010 Presidential Dollar Proof Set on February 11, 2010. This release came well before the circulation release date of the coins and provided collectors with an early look at the coin honoring the sixteenth President. The uncirculated (satin finish) versions were first available a few months later on April 13, 2010. The circulation release date is planned for November 18, 2010.
The dates below represent the first availability of each coin or product. Some were available within an annual set on the date listed.
